The year is 2050 and a massive heat wave has struck the southern part of the US.  Due to the power grid failing, millions are left without power for several months. Citizens in the southern state go to the capital to demand funding to help rebuild repair the infrastructure of the power grid to bring power back to the people. However, the government states that due to the economic crisis of 2048 they can’t procure the funding to rebuild them. Telling each state government to fund the multi-billion dollar repair themselves. Meanwhile the government is funding a war half way around the world that no one wanted to get involved in. The citizens of the southern US are tired of the excuses and the lack of help to its citizens so they stage a protest at the capitol. During the protest things take a turn for the worst and violence erupts. Capital police and several national guardsmen end up firing on the civilians, killing and injuring hundreds. From this event the south wants to secede and the government threatens marshal law. With an angry populous, local and state police not knowing what to do, and a threating government, will civil war once again come to the US? Or will the US be permanently split for years to come?
